President Obama has recently nominated John Koskinen for the new IRS Chief. Koskinen’s goal is to restore the public’s faith in the IRS.
The IRS has been going through some tumultuous times between lacking a commissioner for over a year, extensive budget cuts, the new healthcare mandate, an aging workforce, and criticism over the debacle of Tea Party groups receiving stricter treatment when applying for tax-exempt status.
Koskinen is currently director of AES Corp. and American Capital Ltd., part of the mortgage industry. He’s been found as a controversial nomination to some due to a lack of background in tax.
